Here's a picture of the ice cream shop I wrote about last time :)
Hi, all. There's nothing too much to report today. It was highly uneventful, compared to this weekend. I went to my classes, got a broccoli, cheese, and sweetcorn pasty from the Cornish Bakeshop for lunch and pasta salad and grapes from Marks & Spencer (the local grocery store) for dinner. For dessert, Diane, Monica and I got some gelato- I got amaretto and it was sooo good.
In other news, our washing machine decided to stop working. Great timing, too, since I'm out of clothes. I'm gonna have to hand-wash stuff in our tub, I suppose. At least the dryer is in business. I don't know how it broke. I haven't even touched it, but, apparently, it fills up with water and doesn't drain it back out. Oh well, worse things have happened - like water marks on the ceiling...I'm sorry Dad :(
Some of us also watched bits and pieces from Pride and Prejudice, the 5-hour movie version with Colin Firth (<3). We all have presentations in class tomorrow about the book. I'm happy that I'd already read it in AP English, so I just had to skim.
We leave for Dublin in 3 days!! I'm so excited. 12 of us are staying in a youth hostel from Thursday night till Sunday morning. We're really gonna try to max out the trip!
That's all I can think of for today's news...but let me do a quick recap of a couple of things I forgot in my last post:
#1 Seagulls are VICIOUS in England. In America, they are annoying and stalk you while you eat on the beach. Here, they actually peck at you! I was holding a pasty on the Cornwall beach, and a seagull swooped down from the sky and starting eating the sandwich right out of my hand! Needless to say, I dropped it and luckily was no worse for the wear (wish I could say the same about my snack), but it was quite a terrifying experience.
#2 They have WEIRD flavors of potato chips over here. Prawn-flavored (shrimp) things are very big. Also, while we made a pit stop on the way to Cornwall at a convenience store, I noticed some other flavors. "Lays" are called "Walkers" here, but they have the same emblem, and they're owned by the same company. Flavors include: prawn cocktail, roast chicken, steak&onion, and cheese&onion...not very appealing if you ask me. I also find Dorito's flavors to be quite humorous over here ("Chili Heatwave," "Tangy Cheese," "Lightly Salted," etc).
I just realized that this post is extremely food-centered. Wonder what that says about the dreams I'm about to have...
Until the next post, Goodnight Everyone!! :)
Love,
Kelly
