I got back to Bath this morning after spending an AWESOME weekend in Ireland with some of my flatmates, as well as some of the other people in the program. We had so much fun. Since it would be really hard to cover everything in one post, I'm just gonna do a quick summary and then share some pics.
My favorite things from this weekend:
-Going back to Dublin
-Seeing St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Book of Kells, the Guinness Castle, etc.
-Going to the Guinness Storehouse, doing a tour, and having a pint on the top of the building, looking out over Dublin
-Going to 2 authentic pubs, mingling w/ the locals, and hearing some amazing local Irish music
-Doing the "P.S. I Love you Tour" and seeing sights from that movie, as well as from Braveheart and Excalibar
-Seeing Glendalough and Wicklow again
-visiting Guinness Lake
-Getting my picture taken with a leprochaun igoon Dublin
-Buying cute new Irish shoes
-Seeing seals and sheep all in one day
-Watching a loose dog chase sheep around a farm
-Eating/drinking pub fare (bangers and mash, beef and guinness stew, Bailey's, potatoes, etc.)
-going to Temple Bar and Baggot Street in Dublin
-being there while a street festival was going on
-meeting our sweet, old Irish B&B owner who called us a taxi for 6:30 am and made sure we were safe
Memorable things from this weekend that aren't quite "favorites":
-Staying one night in a sketchy hostel before moving to a Bed & Breakfast w/ 3 other girls
-dealing w/ inefficient Ryanair workers who didn't tell us that we needed a "visa check" until right before we boarded (even though we arrived 3 hours early), who made us worry about missing our plane and who laughed at us during the stress...ugh.
-dealing w/ inefficient Ryanair workers who didn't tell us that we needed a "visa check" until right before we boarded (even though we arrived 3 hours early), who made us worry about missing our plane and who laughed at us during the stress...ugh.
-the fact that EVERYTHING is waaaay overpriced in Ireland
As you can see...the positives greatly outweighed the negatives....all in all it was a fantastic weekend!
Feels good to be "home" in Bath, though :) But I miss my REAL home and wish I could've been with Dad on Father's Day! Love you Dad!!!
Till tomorrow & with love,
Kelly
