Let Me Fill You In...

Sorry for that short break from posting, everyone!
I'll catch you up on the last couple of days:

On Monday I cooked dinner for my housemates by myself. It was really fun! I went grocery shopping at Whitrose, a grocery store in the Podium (a large shopping center/mall/restaurant complex) & I made pinwheel pasta w/ white cheese sauce, baked brie with blackberry currant jam and fresh blackberries on top, crispy potatoes, and salad with balsamic vinegarette dressing. I gotta admit, it turned out pretty good! I also got fresh mangoes for dessert. Some of us also got ice cream (I had amaretto gelato- my new favorite) and hung out at home for the night.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was also a fun day! I was really excited, because, in the afternoon, two girls approached my roommate Monica and me when we were in a cafe and asked us for directions to a store! I felt like such a local. Lukily, I also happened to know where the store was, so the conversation was not in vain haha.

Then, for dinner, my friend and flatmate Danielle and I tried out a new pub: J.D. Wetherspoon. Apparently, it's the cheapest pub in Bath. Danielle and I were really excited, b/c it was very cheap but also delicious! I couldn't believe how high quality the food was, despite the low prices. Danielle got the breaded mushrooms appetizer and I got alfredo pasta (shocker) w/ salad and onion rings (the best I've ever had). Then, we watched the movie Emma with our other flatmates, b/c we're reading that in my Jane Austen class now. We watched the Gwyneth Paltrow version- I thought it was pretty good.

Tonight should be fun, because we're hosting a get together in our flat for people in the program w/ drinks and appetizers.

I hope you're all doing well. I miss you guys so much, but I also really am having the time of my life and I feel so fortunate to have this study abroad opportunity!!

16 days until America gets crazy again :)

Love,

Kelly
